Richard Pilbrow
The Board of Directors and the entire membership of the American Society of Theatre Consultants were deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Richard Pilbrow, whose creative energy has inspired many of us in so many ways. Richard’s quest for the creation of intimate performance spaces where audiences and performers gather for rarefied cultural experiences set a high bar for the theatre consulting industry. His far-reaching design talents have emboldened numerous allied industry colleagues as well, including lighting designers, performers, conductors, stage directors and designers, engineers, performance equipment creators, students, and a panoply of architects. Many of us remember when we received our first “Hello, love” or “Darling” from Richard. We will never forget his infectious enthusiasm.
We send our condolences and best regards to his wife Molly and the rest of his immediate family including his children Abigail, Fred and Daisy, and his grandchildren.
Everyone who knew Richard knows that he was a man of great passion. Daisy Pilbrow’s beautiful and heartfelt tribute to her father includes the following: “If you want to honor his memory, the best things that you can do are to support the arts and to support democracy.”
