Tony Diemont
Many ASTC members had the pleasure of working with Tony Diemont of PDO where he was a Partner for 35 years, then with Texas Scenic, until his passing late last year. Tony possessed a rare combination of skills and passions. He thought like an artist and worked as a craftsman and engineer. His ability to predict how a machine could work, and how it would impact the function of the stage and theatre was a wonder to observe. His passion to solve problems was perhaps excelled only by his passion for collaboration. Tony’s sketches are legend. His normally reserved persona would light up when engaged in a conversation, pencil and pad in hand, addressing an issue with a design detail, or a challenge to its execution. One could not ask for a better person to have on your team. His family, his co-workers, and the industry as a whole have suffered a grievous loss, and he will be sorely missed.
