ASTC members, Scott Crossfield and Robert Long, presented “The History of Chicago: Not Just a Musical” at the IAVM / Performing Arts Manager’s Conference in Chicago in February. The ASTC-sponsored “History Of” series has become a much-anticipated feature of the annual PAMC conference. Scott and Robert have documented previous conference host cities including New York, Las Vegas, Kansas City, San Francisco and San Antonio with breathless and image-packed presentations that humorously chronicle the social and cultural evolution of the host city. The series began in 2012 with a challenge by ASTC members and PAMC liaisons Jack Hagler and Millie Dixon to present the theatre history of New York City in a one-hour presentation. Scott and Robert responded with their now-classic, “History of Broadway and its Theatres: 250+ Years in 60+ Minutes.” The next installment in the “History Of” series will feature Toronto, Ontario in August 2018.
