Jules Fisher, ASTC will be presented with the Special Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre at the 79th Annual Tony Awards on June 7th. He is a Founding Member of the American Society of Theatre Consultants (ASTC) and is a founder and Principal of theatre planning firm Fisher Dachs Associates.
The American Theatre Wing recognizes Mr. Fisher with this award for his exceptional and prolific career as a lighting designer, having won nine Tony Awards including his work for the original productions of Pippin and Assassins. Mr. Fisher’s Broadway designs include Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Angels in America: Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, and Ragtime. He has also designed for films such as A Star is Born (1976), Chicago, The Producers, Burlesque, and for popular music concerts including the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, Simon & Garfunkel, and Barbra Streisand.
Mr. Fisher receives the Lifetime Achievement Award this year with fellow Broadway veterans James Lapine and André Bishop.
