For the past twelve years, ASTC Fellows Robert Long, FASTC and Scott Crossfield, FASTC have participated in the International Association of Venue Manager’s (IAVM) Conference by presenting a retrospective of the theatres in the host city.  This year, being in Pittsburgh, it was the History of Pittsburgh and its Theatres: Steel the Show.  Robert and Scott looked at the history of the subject city and placed the development (and often the subsequent demolition of…) theatres into perspective.  The presentations always include many photos and anecdotes to tell the story.

Next year’s IAVM will be in Portland, Oregon where no doubt the story will continue July 28-31, 2024.
